My Friend Went Home

Always got a big smile ( :-D ) for you. Concerned about what was on your heart, what concerned you. Give you "the shirt off his back" kind of guy. (for real) God shines through him more & more with each passing day. I know that we don't "Exalt" people ! It "puffs them up"...It makes us out to be idolaters...BUT 1Thessalonians 5:12 & 13 says;" Now also we beseech you, brethren, get to know those who labor among you [recognize them for what they are, acknowledge and appreciate and respect them all]—your leaders who are over you in the Lord and those who warn and kindly reprove and exhort you. And hold them in very high and most affectionate esteem in [intelligent and sympathetic] appreciation of their work. Be at peace among yourselves. And so I apply these verses of Gods' word to my perspective of the individual I am talking about...Gods' wisdom is perfect & infinite. I think that He, with a smile, will gently place people, locations, and things in our lives that force us to make right choices. This past week, with deep sadness, (the kind that a christian man is not supposed to have), I am making a choice to never take the friends God gives me for granted. God sent me a really cool friend. A brother that gave and understood the benefits of being a giver. A brother that knew how to listen. A brother that would regularly volunteer his time. A brother who could hug you even though you didn't smell so good. I'm sure it was God you caused this brother to come across my path. I'm just not sure why I lost him ! I lost Conyea on January 1, 2012. He was the first homicide of 2012...He Championed a "cause", "Put the Pistol Down", yet lost his life to the violence that pistols always author....I am today asking God to "square" this reality with my soul that is grieving for Conyea and his family. Is there such a thing as a "healthy grieving experience" ? If so, I feel the need to have one......

Conyea, I will miss you, your spirit, your smile, our talks, our prayer times, the wisdom (Godly) that I always gained from you, your listening ear, laughter, watching you grow in Him, but mostly, I will just plainly miss my friend....
